Hello, I am Amanda, and I am so glad you found your way here.
Here is something that might surprise you. I did not actually want to be a hairdresser. I know, right! I completely fell into it, and now I cannot imagine doing anything else.
Back when I first started I did not even really know what a proper blowdry was. A quick swish over with the hairdryer was absolutely not it. Don't worry, nearly three decades on the salon floor has taught me all the tips and tricks, and I love sharing them with you too.
It all started in 2000 when a move to the Gold Coast landed me an apprenticeship in a very busy salon. I had always loved creative things, and it did not take long to realise this was exactly where I was supposed to be.
In 2009, my partner and I packed up and moved back to Stanthorpe for a quieter life out of the city. He is a quiet, outdoorsy type and I loved the idea of being close to family again. Stanthorpe had other plans too. It wrapped its arms around us like a big warm hug and never really let go.
I had always dreamed of a salon that felt like home the moment you walked through the door. When I opened Indigo Hair that same year I was nervous. I had only ever worked in large, busy salons and going solo was genuinely scary. I needn’t have worried. This community is one of the kindest and most generous I have ever known, and my hope is that the salon feels just as warm and inviting to you as Stanthorpe has always felt to me.
Outside the salon you will find me forever renovating our 100 year old home and making memories with our young son. I love teaching him to cook, taking him on adventures, and I am an enthusiastic reader who is always open to a good book recommendation. Honestly, a salon book club is not off the table.
I also love to sew, and my secret indulgence is a good Hallmark Christmas movie. Cheesy? Absolutely. Delightful? Every single time.
